JATINDER (JP) SAHI

Parent & Active Community Member

I am proud to call Union City my home, where I live with my husband and our wonderful child, an 8th grader at Cesar Chavez Middle School. My journey in the United States began when I immigrated with my parents and two older brothers at nearly two years old. Growing up in the suburbs of Kansas City, Kansas, I benefited from the dedication of my parents, who were actively involved in our public schools and PTA. This instilled in me the value of community involvement and the importance of a strong educational foundation.

Since 2005, Union City has been the heart of my community involvement. I serve on the School Site Council and have passionately contributed to various New Haven Unified School District projects. Notably, I participated in the Superintendent interviews and was part of the renaming committee for Alvarado Middle School, now proudly known as Itliong-Vera Cruz Middle School. Recently, I founded a parent advisory group to support immigrant parents, inspired by my own parents’ commitment to my education.

Professionally, I am the CEO of a volunteer-driven healthcare non-profit organization that provides free medical care to the uninsured. With over 20 years of experience in healthcare and non-profit management, I am dedicated to ensuring access to quality healthcare for all. Volunteering and aiding those in need are core values I strive to instill in my daughter.

I am honored to have the support of our local Assembly Member and State Senator, and I was humbled to receive the Woman of the Year award for my community work from our Assembly Member. As a school board candidate, I am committed to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and high-quality educational environment for all students in our district.

Together, let’s work towards a brighter future for our children and our community.
